Self –study skills
  1. 1. Self-study book:
    - Pupils do pre-class preparation such as collecting information, dictionary skills, in-class note taking, etc.
    - Pupils are also required to do some extending tasks such as making sentences, practice speaking tasks, etc. as further consolidation.
  2. Home reading / E-reading: Pupils are assigned readers for home reading regularly.
  3. Dictionaries are provided for pupils’ self-learning in classrooms and pupils are taught to use the dictionary as their learning tool.
  4. Some good websites or learning platforms are provided for self-learning.
    For example: “Pearson learning platform”, “Reading platform”, and “E-dictation platform”.
  5. Study skills such as note-taking, predicting in listening tasks, summarizing will be taught throughout the school year.
Assessment for learning
  1. Listening exercises
  2. Formative assessment is conducted.
  3. Self and peer assessment for writing is conducted.
  4. Theme-based dictations are conducted in pupils’ dictation books.
  5. Teachers’ observation: Teachers mark records and give verbal or non-verbal feedback during lessons.
  6. P.1-3 PLP-R Levelling: Pupils’ reading abilities can be assessed regularly.
  7. Teachers mark pupils’ homework with written feedback. Stamps or stickers are given for encouraging pupils.
  8. Graded worksheets are made to cater for pupils’ individual differences.
Develop the ability of self - reflection
  1. Editing skills are implemented in writing lessons.
  2. P.3-6 Good Writing will be shared.
  3. P.1-3 PLPR-All worksheets + High frequency Words assessment.
  4. P.1-6 Self-assessment form: Students evaluate themselves on different aspects of learning.
Others
  1. Pupils’ good works are displayed on the school boards. Some of them are posted on the school intranet notice boards or published in the “Super Writing Little Star.”
  2. Good writers are nominated to join in the public writing competitions.
  3. In-school or inter-school competitions are held such as writings, calligraphy, poem or prose recitation, etc.
  4. NETs help to promote English-speaking environment through English activities on occasional special days.
  5. Incorporate interactive e-learning activities in lessons (Kahoot) for learning and consolidation.
  6. Conduct differentiated instruction to cater for individual differences.
